Valley of Fire

Rolling open space

Sandstone crumbles beneath feet

Watercolor stained hills

Bleeding pinks

Purples

Yellows

Twirling gusts

Rosy cheeks

Tan frosted mutt

Older than he knows

Challenging

Steep

Unforgiving inclines

Playing chicken with nature

Unwilling to give up

His puppy ways

One misstep could be fatal

Unaware

But he is an animal

People encounter similar trials

Teeter-tottering

On the edge of destruction

I will rescue my dog

Who will save them?
